Investment sees growth

Direct investments recorded under Law 332/2001, granting incentives for investments in excess of one million USD, reached 633.64 million USD between January and August, posting a 12.09 per cent increase on last year's figure for the same period.
The number of investment projects recorded over the period was 65 compared to 62 in the first eight months of 2002. The main sectors that attracted investors were telecommunications, with 16 projects and a value of 334 million USD, energy, with 15 projects and a value of 332 million USD, and machine building industry, with 14 projects and a value of 134 million USD. Between October 1, 2001 and August 30, 2003, 220 investment projects were registered, their cumulated value amounting to 1.89 billion lei.
Rasdaq shows figures
Foreign investors' purchases on the Rasdaq over-the-counter market amounted to six million USD in August, representing a 2.8 million USD decline compared to the previous month. Rasdaq registered 5,718 transactions last month, their total value standing at 377 billion lei (11.3 million USD). Purchasing offerings accounted for 53.1 per cent of the total value, regular transactions took 44.2 per cent, while selling offerings and APAPS's operations took the rest. According to Mediafax, the market's capitalization lost 7.05 per cent in August down to 69,770 billion lei.
