Infrastructure
· Road Access:
- Lupeni is 18 km from Petrosani and the access to it is convenient.
The National Road DN 66 A connects to the National Road DN 66 Petrosani - Tg.
Jju. Moreover, the railway from Petrosani
- Lupeni facilitates its linkage to the rest of the country.
- Lupeni benefits from a CFR (Romanian Railway) stop and a train-station in
Barbateni. The tourists use this stop more frequently as it is in the old center
of the city.
- Taxis and vans leave every 5 minutes from the station
- The Straja tourist area is connected to the city by the County Road DJ 664
A, with a total length of 9.3 km. There are also marked paths for hiker access.
· Telecommunications:
- Currently the town has a Romtelecom office with a capacity of 1,000
telephone lines. During the following 2 months, the digital exchange will be
functional.
- The GSM (General System Mobile) telephone systems are already functing, and
they cover all the city area. The GSM network is represented by CONNEX, DIALOG
and COSMOROM.
- There are internet providers in Lupeni, and access to the internet is available
through Internet Cafes.
· Drinking Water Supply/
Water Network:
- The surface water source of the Lupeni town is the Braia rivulet/stream. The
flow is 90 liter/second. The water-catchement/collecting is made in a dam located
on this rivulet. From here the water is drain in the filtration and chlorination
station, and after is keept in 2 reservoirs with a capacity of 2x1500 m3
- Another sorce is the magistal from Valea de Pesti, which has 2 reservoirs
of 1 500 m3 capacity and 2 reservoirs of 500 m3. From this reservoirs, the water
is distributed through a distribution network to the consumers

· Electric Energy
Supply/ the Electric Energy Network :
- The town is supplied with electrical energy from the National Electric Energie
System through the aerial net with double circuit of 110 kw, distributed on
the medium tension through the conversion stations of 110/20 kw: Lupeni Sud
si Lupeni Arena
- The power network has: aerial and underground, medium tension lines (20 kilowatts)
- The public lighting network is requierdly placed. Approximately 85% from the
town is is good lighting

· Thermo Energy Supply:
- The main source of thermo energy is the Thermo-electric plant in Paroseni.
- Transportation of thermo energy is through prefabricated pipes or through
above-ground pipelines.
- The distribution points are each responsible for the
heating of an entire neighbourhood, although they are old, tattered and insufficient.
- In order to improve the energy supply with thermo-energy the City Hall launched
investment programs through S.C. Universal Edil S.A, which is subordinate to
the Lupeni City Hall.
· Sewage Network:
- The sewage is collected to the main collector channel that crosses
the West Jiu and merges with the main pipeline.
- Sewage treatment is conducted at the Danuntoni water treatment center.
- The entire system is currently undergoing renovation
